Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and/or Masters’ Degree in nutrition/dietetics
  • Successful completion of Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR) examination for Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RD/RDN) credential
  • Certified Dietitian/Nutritionist by the State of New York
  • Successful completion of the National Certifying Board of Diabetes Educators (NCBDE) examination for Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) credential preferred.
  • Minimum three years experience as a registered dietitian nutritionist.
  • Knowledge of nutritional/dietetic principles and applications and the use of nutrition care process.
  • Knowledge of concepts and methods of patient education including teaching and educational aids. Effectively develops and conducts education programs, serves as a resource to care teams.
  • Knowledge of how to design and implement special diets specific to a health condition while acknowledging different cultures and religious beliefs.
  • Skill in nutritional principles through appropriate assessment of status/needs and development of care plans based on appropriate calorie levels and nutrient adequacy.
  • Skill in understanding of nutritional impact on health status by developing appropriate diets for patients with diabetes, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, adult and pediatric obesity, pre/post natal, renal disease, gestational diabetes, cancer, digestive disorders, vitamin/mineral deficiencies etc.
  • Ensures that all patients receive personalized, prompt attention and are treated with receptiveness, dignity and respect.
  • Recognizes and performs duties required independently, even when not directly assigned. Attends all meetings as directed by Director of Nutrition and Medical Director.
  • Demonstrates good judgment, discretion and ability to problem solve. Demonstrates flexibility in the acceptance and completion of work assignments.
  • Two years of experience in a health care setting prefrred.

Typically, new hires may not start at the top of this range, as compensation is tailored to each individual's circumstances. For union positions, salaries will be determined according to the collective bargaining agreement.
