Education, Training, Licenses, Certifications
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Formal ophthalmic training. Preferred
• Some college coursework, preferably including basic anatomy and medical terminology courses Preferred
• Current Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) certification as COA, COT, or CMOT. (Required within 12 months of hire) Preferred
Relevant Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• One to two years’ experience in an eye care environment. (R)
• Prior experience with ophthalmic testing and scribing. (R)
• Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service, organization ability, time management and the ability to effectively prioritize work. (R)
• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks with strong attention to detail and documentation. (R)
• Proficiency with computer use, especially an electronic medical record. (R)
• Knowledge of medical terminology, particularly related to ophthalmology. (R)
• Prior experience in a fast-paced, high customer volume work environment. (P)

Typically, new hires may not start at the top of this range, as compensation is tailored to each individual's circumstances. For union positions, salaries will be determined according to the collective bargaining agreement.
