Daily supervision of Laboratory staff performing moderate and high complexity testing and maintaining Department of Health compliance is crucial in providing quality and effective information to our providers and patients.


Responsibilities:


  • Manages QC/QA in accordance with ACP, regulatory and accreditation standards and inspections.

  • Maintain compliance with Proficiency testing requirements.

  • Manages employee training, scheduling, and performance evaluations. Conducts competency testing annually or as needed. 

  • Provides technical direction to staff in the performance of all approved laboratory procedures in specialty discipline (POCT).

  • Resolves technical problems and ensures remedial actions are taken. Monitors and reports TNP or TIQ noting trends and providing revised workflow to prevent ongoing issue.

  • Perform Technical and phlebotomy duties as required.

  • Provide accurately and timely information to providers.

  • Implement regional laboratory standards involving new or amended procedures and policies.

  • Manage Information flow to staff effectively regarding changes and review P&P.

  • Interface with contact reference laboratories to ensure accurate, timely and appropriate laboratory information.

  • Performs other job-related duties as required.


Qualifications:
  • BS in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Cytology, or related field required
  • New York State Licensed as a Medical Technologist or eligibility required

  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Accreditation preferred

  • Five or more years of full-time clinical laboratory experience required

  • Three or more years of clinical laboratory supervisory experience preferred
