Summary of Position
- Responsible for the overall upkeep and cleanliness of the facility, ensuring a pleasant and safe environment.
- Perform routine light repair as required for the upkeep of the facility.
- Perform other miscellaneous tasks to support the operation of the facility
Principal Accountabilities
- Clean all bathrooms in the medical center four times daily. Regularly clean walls, floors, sinks, mirrors, vanity
counters, urinals, and toilets. Replace/refill, soap, hand sanitizer, hand towels, toilet tissue, deodorizers and other
supplies as needed. Maintain proper sanitary supplies in all other areas within the medical office. Refresh bathrooms
upon request of office leadership. - Rounds and regularly collects garbage throughout the facility which should be disposed of in proper trash receptacles.
- Break down cardboard and properly prepare for pickup by the wastes management vendor.
- Clean hallways and reception/waiting areas including sweeping, mopping, clean/wipe down seating, constantly wiping
down high touch areas with antibacterial cloths such as door handles, elevator buttons, counters, etc. - Clean pantry area daily; mid-morning and late afternoon. Clean refrigerators and ice machines bi-weekly.
- Following review with facilities leadership, perform routine repair work required for the upkeep of the facility
including light carpentry, fix and paint walls, hang pictures, assemble furniture. - Weekly inspection, organizing and cleaning, as needed, of all mechanical and storage rooms in the facility.
- Provide basic maintenance service: replace light bulbs, unclog toilets, reset breakers, shut off water in building if
needed. Replace broken light and receptacle covers, toilet seats, etc. - Monitor and maintain the overall cleanliness and safety of the exterior of the medical center by regularly sweeping,
shoveling, applying salt on snow/ice, and placement of safety equipment such as mats and signs needed to ensure
safe operations. - Pick up sharps or red containers from designated area daily.
- Assist with rotating soiled and cleaned linens where applicable.
- Remove biohazard/medical waste bags and place in storage area so they are ready for pickup by the vendor.
- Receive packages, boxes and mail. Deliver mail to the mailroom. Sort mail and place in provider mail bins as directed.
- Log boxes and packages received and deliver to appropriate individual.
- Repairs/problems/issues beyond maintenance worker’s control: Report to Facilities department immediately, i.e.,
indoor temperature, plumbing, boiler, air conditioning, floods, leaks, electrical problems or other problems/repairs. - Input workorder requests in facilities services program “ResQ” after receiving approval from the facilities manager.
- Order housekeeping/pantry supplies as needed and stock in an organized manner in the designated area
- Maintain lobby floors, mop spills or water when wet. Place safety equipment such as mats, cones and signs as needed
to ensure safe operations. - Check and clean roof drains where applicable.
- Deploy water intrusion barriers, i.e., sandbags, water socks, etc. for anticipated storm.
- Assist in office pre-opening and closing during inclement weather conditions
- Conduct monthly facility safety walkthrough, record findings and bring to attention of Operational leadership and
regional facility manager - Prepare for and participate in quarterly safety meetings
- Visually inspect fire extinguishers monthly. Restated: Document and note inspection date on the fire extinguisher tag.
- Ensure fire and burglar alarm system are operational.
- Repair/replace locks as needed (one for one repair/replace). Maintain key system utilizing key box.
- Perform other job-related duties as required.
- Work with ACPSS or EH Facilities Infrastructure team as needed i.e., HVAC to assist in trouble shooting temp issue
within the center.
Qualifications
Education, Training, Licenses, Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Technical certification in electrical, plumbing, mechanical carpentry preferred but not required
Relevant Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Minimum of one (1) year prior maintenance experience in a healthcare setting
- Minimum of two (2) years prior maintenance experience if not in a healthcare setting
- Ability to travel between offices to provide coverage as needed
- May consider additional years of work experience instead of high school diploma or GED
- Effective communication and organization skills.
- Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to effectively prioritize and follow through on all tasks in an independent manner with minimal supervision.
- Experience in the use of hand tools i.e., drill, screw drivers, wrenches, digital thermometer, tape measure, etc.
- Experience in the use of CCTV (Closed circuit television) equipment, fire, and burglar alarm systems

For union positions, salaries will be determined according to the collective bargaining agreement.
