Summary of Position
- The Licensed Practical Nurse position is responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients.
Principal Accountabilities
Administrative:
- Obtains, verifies and records health history of patients.
- Prepares equipment to efficiently draw blood.
- Monitors inventory of medical supplies and orders when necessary.
- Reports malfunctioning machinery to Administration.
Communication:
- Promotes wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating physician advice and/or instructions.
Clinical:
- Provides physician support by checking height
- Provides basic patient care by administering medications
- Assists other healthcare professionals in performing exams
- Follows established procedures for infection control
Patient Services:
- Organizes patient flow and accompanies patient to exam room.
- Sets up and cleans exam room before, between and after patient visits.
Performs other job-related duties as required
Qualifications
Education, Training, Licenses, Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of NYS approved Practical Nursing program.
- Current New York State Licensed Practical Nurse License
Relevant Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Minimum of one year experience required as of 2009.
