The Gastroenterology Service Line Manager partners with the Chair-Gastroenterology, Senior Vice President, Specialty Services, and the Regional Clinical Directors to support the continued development and successful functioning of the Gastroenterology service line across AdvantageCare Physicians (ACPNY).  Routinely visits, physically inspects, and clinically contributes to all endoscopy suites across ACPNY.Develops and maintains nursing service requirements and objectives, standards of nursing practice, gastroenterology (GI) policies and procedures and written job descriptions for each level of clinical personnel.Implements new policies for nursing and patient care and ensures compliance with GI accreditation standards.

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Chair-Gastroenterology, SVP Specialty Services, and Regional Clinical Directors, oversees the coordination of patient care and delivery of effective specialty services to patients.
  • Develops, communicates, and implements strategies for the service line and identifies resource needs with the goal of increasing service line efficiency, and patient experience. 
  • Supervises the operation of the procedure room suites and patient care areas.
  • Establishes and implements a means of assessing the nursing care needs of patients and ensures appropriate staffing levels.
  • Manages and supervises the activities of the office-based facilities including necessary logs, records and documentation as required for accreditation/reaccreditation.
  • Provides orientation and training for new personnel as well as ongoing training for existing team members.
  • Maintains clinical service goals, objectives, procedures, and policies.
  • Assesses need for, arranges and/or conducts appropriate clinical staff in-service training.
  • Assesses need, and orders necessary GI supplies. Assesses equipment to be repaired or undergo routine, preventive maintenance.
  • Performs annual competencies on all office-based facility clinical staff including Care Team Supervisors and CTA IIs (Medical Assistants) and implements clinical staff development as required to ensure accreditation/ reaccreditation.
  • Is a member of the GI quality assurance committee and participates in standing committee meetings.
  • Ensures incident variance reports are entered in RL Solutions Software and any regulatory or state mandated reporting is completed. .
  • Supervises open access colonoscopy referral work queues, phone voicemail message logs and provider in-basket messages to ensure they are addressed by care teams according to ACPNY standards.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Current, unencumbered licensure as an RN in the State of New York
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience practicing as an RN including minimum of 2 years in-depth endoscopy (GI) experience.
  • Meets acceptable standards defined by governing bodies. (NY State, SGNA (Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates) , APIC Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology , OSHA Occupational Safety & Health Administration, etc.)
  • Current BLS and ACLS.
  • Ability to take direction and foster an environment of cohesiveness among all clinical staff.
  • Extensive skillfulness to perform duties during procedures, pre and post procedure and the ability to reprocess (clean) instruments/scopes when needed.
  • Management/supervisory experience preferred
